Politics is a major event for any
democratic country especially for a country like India which has more than 1.2
billion diverse population. Election 2014 is truly a release of two big budget
films, one with Narendra Modi (an established superstar) and another with Rahul
Gandhi (a debut) as cast, and complete nation is looking upto
the media for minutiae. Thus, giving a room for promotions and advertising.
Now, as we all know every big budget
movie invests heavily on promotion and the success at box office greatly
depends on it, both the parties i.e. BJP & Congress are powerfully
advertising themselves on every media be it newspapers, hoardings, banners, tv
commercials, radio jingles or digital media. Few months back it was in news
that Rahul Gandhi has spent over Rs. 500 crores for his image makeover, and
being a senior in the industry Narendra Modi has started the promotion far
before with a campaign ‘NaMo for PM’. So, how does it matter? Is it affecting
the country? Are people taking them seriously? Do facts and statistics shown in
ads really create impact?
Well the fact is they really do…Knowingly-unknowingly,
consciously-unconsciously, actively-inactively people are getting influenced and
politics is becoming the hot topic everywhere be it chaupal or twitter. US
Election is a clear example of excellent promotion by Barack Obama. With smart
phone in every other hand, people are becoming aware and active citizens and
digital media is contributing a lot in image building of politicians. So, this
time I am seeing a big political war of words on all the social channels and
somehow becoming a part of it. There is no group on Whats App which is spared
of Political Jokes. In fact Google has also introduced a platform to take a political
pledge.
So, NaMo & RaGa both are loudly
portraying themselves as ‘Main Tera Neta’ and complete nation is in the awe of
their advertising and promotion. I am yet unable to decide ‘My Neta’, ‘My Hero’,
‘My PM Choice’ for this session…Just hoping to see both of them on Comedy
Nights with Kapil for promotion before election, it might help me in taking a
decision before going to polling booth. :p
No doubt the thoughts are well written but the best part of the complete blog was the last line.
ReplyDeleteI would seriously love to watch both the contenders on Comedy Nights - the historical day in the era of television + Politics :P
